CAROL BOND 1999 CONVENTION ARTIST

Carol Bond 1945-2001

Carol received her CDA in 1989 and passed the first part of her MDA certification in 1995. She taught decorative painting throughout the USA for 20 years.

She authored three books on decorative painting and co-authored two other books. Her work was spotlighted in the Artist's Catalogue. Two of her works of art are on  display in the Decorative Arts Museum. She was a founding member and past president of the Connecticut Society of Decorative Painters. Carol passed away in 2001, leaving behind a legacy of her beautiful designs for us to paint and enjoy.

MARY SVENSON,CDA 2000 CONVENTION ARTIST

Mary lives in Westford, MA. She has been painting for 26 years and teaches at her home studio, TOLE SAMPLER. Mary also teaches at the SDP, NET and HOOT conventions. Mary is a Certified Decorative Artist and has also passed the stroke and floral categories in the Master Decorative Artist Program.

She is the author of A New England Tole Sampler and various painting packets.

BONNIE FREDERICO, CDA 2001 CONVENTION ARTIST

Bonnie lives in Grafton, MA. She has been painting over 30 years in all mediums. She received her Certified Decorative Artist in 1994. Bonnie teaches at the National Conventions across the country as well as in her home studio, THE SELLER SHOP.

Bonnie is the author of Fresh and Easy Watercolors and has a variety of painting packets. Mary has also published several articles in painting magazines.

MAY PHILLIPS 2002 CONVENTION ARTIST

May resides in Waterbury, CT. She started painting in watercolor almost 30 years ago. Her work has been exhibited in several galleries and fine art juried art shows. May has also been featured in the Decorative Painter Magazine. She has taught classes on "painting cruises" as well as national conventions. She also teaches at her home studio and has several painting packets published.

 

 

ELDRID SKJOLD ARNTZEN 2003 CONVENTION ARTIST

Eldrid started Rosemaling in 1960. In 1987 she received the Gold Medal for Rosemaling at the National Exhibit at Vesterheim. (the Norwegian-American Museum in Decorah, Iowa) She was named a "Living Legend" by the State of Connecticut and a Master Teaching Artist for Traditional Arts for the National Endowment for the Arts Apprenticeship Program, as well as Master Teaching Artist in the New York State Council on the Arts, Folk and Traditional Arts Program.

Eldrid is a Decorative Arts Collection Artist, having won first place in 2006.

In 2005, Eldrid was selected as a National Endowment for the Arts National Heritage Fellow. This honor is the most prestigious award given to folk and traditional artists in this country.

JUDY GIFFIN 2004 CONVENTION ARTIST

Judy resides in Lewiston, Maine. She has been painting for 30 years and teaching in her home studio for 18 years. Judy is very active in her local painting chapters, holding board and officer positions. Judy paints for pleasure, donating many of her painted pieces to family, friends, and charitable fundraisers.

 

LYNNE ANDREWS 2005 CONVENTION ARTIST

Lynne resides in Chepachet, RI and has been painting for 35 years. In 2004 she received 2nd place in the Delta Design Challenge and in 2007 was selected as a National Supporting Artist for the Society of Decorative Artist convention in Anaheim, CA. Lynne is the author of four books, a contributing author for Paint Works and the Decorative Painter.

MARGIT B. HARTL 2006 CONVENTION ARTIST

Margit resides in Niantic, CT. She was educated in the fine arts in Germany and was introduced to decorative painting in 1982. Margit enjoys travel teaching national wide as well as in her home studio. Her work has been featured in various magazines including the SDP Decorative Painter.

 

 

LAURIE MACKENZIE, TDA 2007 CONVENTION ARTIST

Laurie is a Rhode Island native and has been teaching for 27 years. Laurie teaches at her studio in Westerly, MA as well as travel teaches. In 2007 she was selected to be part of Governor Carcieri’s show at the Atrium in Providence.

Laurie enjoys sculpting as well as painting. In 2002 she won Juror’s Choice Award in the Westerly Co-op Regional show. She earned her Teacher of Decorative Art designation in 2005.

ROBIN MACKENZIE PROUT 2008 CONVENTION ARTIST

Robin resides in Wyantskill, NY and has been painting for 25 years. She enjoys all styles of painting especially the art forms of other countries and Early American Decorative techniques. Robin’s current passion is understanding the nature of creativity and inspiration and learning how to bring joy and fulfillment to the creative process.
